Deb Demorest, MA, M.Div.

Pastor Deb was born in upstate New York.  She and her sister are twins and they have a brother who is 11 months older.  Her dad worked for NASA, hence her family moved a lot when she was growing up.

Deb came to North Carolina to go to college at Warren Wilson College, where she earned a BA in Social Work. She later attended Appalachian State University and earned an MA and CAS in School Psychology.   She worked as a school psychologist for 25 years before retiring in 2010.  In 2002, she was called to the ministry and began attending Erskine Theological Seminary.  She received her M.Div. in 2012.

Pastor Deb served Pleasant Grove Union Church in Weaverville for five years before being appointed to Moore's Grove United Methodist Church in 2017.

Today, her goals in ministry are to make the Bible come alive so that people want to read and study God's word.  She enjoys being involved in the various ministries of the church, the United Women in Faith, the book club, Bible Study, as well as fund raising, and decorating the church.

Pastor Deb feels it is her mission to serve small churches--it allows her to really get to know her congregation.

If you're looking for a small, very friendly community of believers that gathers in an historic Methodist church, please consider joining us on Sunday!
